Large basket with lid
This large basket with a lid boasts the delicate luster and gentle texture unique to bamboo.
When you touch the bamboo, with its blend of glossy, smooth areas and natural roughness, it feels as if you're holding nature itself in your hands.
It is an exquisite item that allows you to gently feel the breath of the material in your daily life.
Its light weight and ease of use mean it's increasingly being seen in various settings, from leisurely afternoons in the park to casual trips to the neighborhood supermarket.
Nanpu Kogei
Nanpu Kogei is a general bamboo trading company founded in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture in 1979.
In Beppu, known as a major production area for bamboo crafts, they have consistently handled everything from material procurement to manufacturing and sales in-house.
Their system, which even includes forest management and supplying materials to artisans, is a rare initiative not often seen in other production areas.
Realizing that such a consistent system fosters trust in high-quality products and leads to a sense of security, I decided to welcome Nanpu Kogei's products into my home.
Furthermore, Nanpu Kogei's products are not merely bamboo crafts; they also possess an aspect of "creative bamboo artistry."
Their dedication to sustainable bamboo utilization, coupled with the masterful fusion of modern design and traditional techniques by skilled artisans, is particularly impressive as a reason to cherish their products for a long time.
Currently, while inheriting the local craftsmanship and aesthetic sense, they have relocated their base to Hiji-machi, Oita Prefecture, surrounded by lush nature and abundant sea resources, where they continue to manufacture products using high-quality bamboo.

It is precisely because of the local culture and climate that these simple, somewhat nostalgic forms are born.
This aesthetic is also a characteristic of handcrafts that have breathed life into that land for a long time.
I was captivated by the modest and quiet presence that utilizes the natural expression of the bamboo itself.
When you look closely, fine bamboo strips and thicker bamboo strips are skillfully woven together, highlighting the beauty of the meticulous handiwork.
The carefully arranged weaving patterns clearly convey the precision and warmth unique to the artisan's touch.
Flexible, strong, and beautiful
Bamboo is known as a sustainable eco-material that grows surprisingly fast.
While it is lightweight and easy to care for, each piece has its own unique characteristics and elasticity, requiring advanced skills and patience for processing.
Bamboo products carefully finished in this way boast durability that allows them to be used for a long time, and the deepening amber color as they are used over time is also one of the joys of owning them.
Flexible, strong, and gaining more character with age, bamboo combines practicality and design, and I feel that it goes beyond being a mere "tool" to become an experience that soothes the soul.
