Maker: Miyamoto Kogeisha Material: Akebia vine Region: Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture

Miyamoto Kogeisha is a long-established akebia craft workshop founded in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture in 1949.
Baskets carefully woven one by one from natural akebia vines are durable and flexible.
They start out a light brown color, but as they come into contact with hand oils and air, they gradually change to a lustrous amber color.

Akebia vines are a material that resists losing their shape, is water-resistant, and can be used for a long time.
As a "tool to be nurtured," they will accompany their user, gradually changing their appearance in daily life.

At Miyamoto Kogeisha, one craftsman is consistently responsible for all processes, from sorting materials to weaving.
The strength and warmth unique to handmade items that can never be achieved through mass production.
Even with the same weaving method, the finish differs depending on the individuality of each vine and the weaver's touch, making each piece a one-of-a-kind.

The reliability of the material and the joy of nurturing it as you use it.
And the perfection and quiet beauty achieved by a single pair of hands.
Please enjoy the deepening affection that comes with long-term use, together with Miyamoto Kogeisha's baskets.
