Notes

[ About Nerikomi Porcelain Works ]
Due to the manufacturing process, no two pieces will have the same pattern, and it is impossible to know exactly what the pattern will be like until it is fired. We hope you will enjoy admiring the unique and beautiful scenery of each piece.
*There may be areas that appear to be chipped, scratched, or missing, but please enjoy them as part of the character of the work.
*As these are handmade items, there may be individual differences in size, shape, and color, and they may differ from the photographs.

Handling Precautions

[ Before Use ]
For unglazed hakuji (white porcelain) pieces, briefly rinsing them with water before use can help prevent food stains.

[ Compatibility with Food and Tea ]
You can use these pieces without concern for typical stir-fried dishes. However, please be careful when using highly pigmented foods like curry, as they may cause discoloration. Katakuchi bowls and teacups pair very well with Chinese tea.

[ Daily Care and Stain Removal ]
If you notice tea stains or other dirt, soaking the piece in an oxygen-based bleach solution for about 30 minutes is recommended. For larger surfaces, covering them with kitchen paper moistened with bleach is also effective. (Oxygen-based bleach works better than chlorine-based bleach.)

Artist / Akari Sato Material / White porcelain Region / Toki City, Gifu Prefecture

“Nerikomi” is a technique created by layering various clays.
Each time the pieces emerge from the kiln, they reveal a different expression, meaning no two are exactly alike.
Akari Sato, a ceramic artist, continues her daily practice, looking forward to these unique encounters.

In this piece, the nerikomi technique is intentionally finished with white porcelain, giving it a clearer impression.
Its presence exudes a dignified elegance.

The soft, wood-grain-like pattern changes its expression with the light, revealing a new vista each time you pause to look.

The large size is perfect for generously serving main dishes and seasonal cuisine. The plating, utilizing the empty space, is also beautiful, allowing you to enjoy both the food and the expression of the vessel.

“I hope you find it beautiful to look at.”
This work embodies such a sentiment from Akari Sato.
