New chopsticks for a new home
When I moved, I bought some special chopsticks to make my new dining experience more enjoyable. Moving is a great opportunity to get new things, isn't it?
Bringing new items into a new home always makes me feel refreshed.
Chopsticks are not just utensils; they are an important part of food culture.
In Japan, they are indispensable tools for savoring food. I love how using them daily allows me to directly feel the ingredients and their warmth. These particular chopsticks are made from natural wood, making them pleasant to the touch and just the right weight.
Chopsticks that fit comfortably in your hand, combining beauty and functionality
We offer two sizes: medium is recommended for women and children, and large for men. The slender tips are beautiful, and the handles, carved through 11 steps, fit snugly in the hand and are easy to grip. These slim chopsticks not only look elegant but also perform exceptionally well, allowing for a firm grip on food. You can handle even small ingredients smoothly, almost as if they were an extension of your hand.
A special encounter with chopsticks
While dining at a certain restaurant, I was captivated by the beautiful chopsticks provided. When I asked where they were purchased, I was told about a shop called "Daikokuya." I found that Daikokuya is located in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, and that the areas of Sumida-ku and Katsushika-ku have a history of making wooden chopsticks dating back to the early Taisho era. "Edo-Hashi" is a registered trademark of Daikokuya, reflecting their long history of chopstick craftsmanship and their dedication to user-friendliness from the customer's perspective. Inside the quaint shop, over 200 varieties of chopsticks were beautifully displayed. Amidst these, a single pair of chopsticks quietly placed on a table immediately caught my eye. Captivated by their beauty, I inquired about purchasing them, only to learn that they were specially made for a famous restaurant and not for sale. Just as I was about to give up, disappointed, Mr. Marukawa, Daikokuya's president and craftsman, specially offered them to me. I cherish these special chopsticks that I obtained this way.
I was also shown the production process, so please take a look at
this as well.

This special pair of chopsticks is filled with the history and passion of Daikokuya. As I embark on a new life in this new home, I look forward to using these chopsticks every day. They make food taste even more delicious, and above all, using them makes mealtime special. If the tips ever get chipped with use, there's no need to worry. Daikokuya offers a repair service, so your cherished chopsticks can be restored! I plan to continue using them carefully and enjoying my daily meals.
