Mugs lined up on a quiet autumn day.
Autumn weather has finally arrived.
The daytime sun is soft, and it feels good just to walk around.
But in the mornings and evenings, it's chilly enough to want to put on a jacket, and I like that "temperature fluctuation" that is so characteristic of autumn.
When this season comes, I start to crave warm drinks.
Brewing coffee, or choosing chamomile tea or chai tea depending on my mood.
The time I spend gazing at the steam and daydreaming is a luxurious moment that somehow soothes my soul.
"Come to think of it, how many mugs do I have right now?"
Suddenly curious, I took them all out of the cupboard.
When did I acquire so many?
While a little surprised by the number, as I looked at the mugs lined up, each one started to look dear to me.
Some I found on my travels, others were gifts from friends.
Every time I pick one up and think, "This is from that time," memories gently unravel.
Each one is my "favorite."
The mug I instinctively reach for changes depending on my mood and the occasion.
Mugs by Minamigama kiln, by Ko Kudo
A holiday morning.
I woke up a little later than usual and brewed coffee while warming up croissants.
On this day, the fresh breeze coming through the window was pleasant, and every time the curtains gently swayed, my heart felt light.
A pale blue mug was perfect for such a morning.
It's a mug by Ko Kudo, the second generation of Minamigama kiln.
It's short in height and has a wide rim.
Despite its round shape, it holds a surprisingly large amount, which is another great feature, making it perfect for a leisurely holiday morning.
Each of Kudo's works shows a different expression due to the way the glaze is applied, the way the colors blend, and the slight temperature differences that occur during firing.
The overlapping colors seem accidental, yet there's a delicate, almost calculated quality to them. Many people are captivated by these beautiful gradations.
I, too, am drawn to this unique beauty and continue to collect them little by little.

Akari Sato's Cups
The temperature was a bit low today, and the room was still chilly even at lunchtime.
I craved something warm, so I decided to simmer some minestrone.
I chose Akari Sato's soup cup.
The deep expressions created by the overlapping glazes are truly captivating, and no matter how many times I look at it, I'm enchanted by its profound texture.
The white glaze marks created during the firing process are as soft as a snowscape, and while simple, they exude a certain dignified individuality.
Even just placed in a room, it quietly emanates its presence.
I usually display them in a glass-fronted cabinet, often admiring them as a piece of interior decor, but today is a little special.
I poured warm soup into it and brought it to the dining table.
We've been together for a long time, but far from getting tired of it, my affection for it grows with each use. It's one of my "favorites."

fog mugs
After a busy morning, it's finally afternoon and I can take a breather.
After finishing all the housework, I made decaf coffee in a fog mug while opening my favorite book in the living room, where the soft sunlight streamed in.
I chose GREEN today because I was in the mood for a relaxed afternoon.
Its gentle color softly blends with the afternoon light, and along with the aromatic scent, my heart feels light.
fog mugs are very easy to use, with a size that fits comfortably in the hand.
The rim has a moderate thickness and roundness, making it pleasant to drink from, which is another charm of this mug.
BLUE, WHITE, PINK, GREEN.
I own all four colors, and each color has a exquisite tone, and the subtle variations created by the glaze are truly beautiful.
I often use them when guests come over, and they often receive compliments, which makes me love them even more each time.

I once gave a pair of these fog mugs as a wedding gift to a friend.
Paired with the 15cm plate from the same series as a saucer, it created an elegant and calm atmosphere, and I remember how delighted they were.
A treat for yourself, and a gift for someone special.
As the weather gets colder.
Why not take a moment to relax with your favorite mug?
