Glass Artist Daiho Kikuchi

Daiho Kikuchi, a glass artist, produces blown glass in Toyama Prefecture.
In mid-October, during the rice harvest season, I visited his newly completed studio and experienced the atmosphere in which his works are born.
The autumn light softly streamed into the space, which was originally a rice storehouse, and the outlines of the glass gently emerged in the quiet room.
There, Kikuchi-san, alone, faced the glass freshly taken from the kiln, and without hesitation, deftly gave it shape.

Glass Adorned with Soft Light

A distinctive feature of Daiho Kikuchi's glass works is
the pale pink color created by thinly blowing the amber-colored raw material.
The way it softly takes on color when exposed to light is as beautiful as if it were draped in a veil of soft air.
It can be enjoyed in combination with colorful ingredients, or it can also create a wonderful atmosphere as an art piece.

Tatesuji kobachi

A beautiful glass with vertical lines, made by mold blowing.
When light hits the lines, gentle gradations of pink emerge.
It is recommended not only as a small bowl but also for storing small items or as an ornament.
A taller version with the same design, the Tatesuji glass, is also available.

Handling Precautions

[Handling Glassware]
Glassware, which beautifully changes its appearance as light passes through, has been a familiar material in Japanese life for centuries.
With careful use, it can be cherished for a long time.

[Before First Use]
Before use, wash once with a neutral detergent and a soft sponge.

[Care]
Wash with a soft sponge and neutral detergent.
Please be careful when washing thin glasses, as twisting them with force may cause breakage.
After washing, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing.

[Storage]
Stacking with hard items like pottery or porcelain may cause scratches.
We recommend not stacking directly, but placing a cloth or similar material in between when storing.
