Amenoie's Special Lacquer Bowl, Made with Hinenao Lacquerware

Hinenao Lacquerware has a workshop nestled in the mountains of Sabae, Fukui Prefecture.
Their showroom is filled with

countless lacquerware pieces, including makie bowls, packed tightly together. The impressive sight powerfully conveys the history of Hinenao Lacquerware's craftsmanship.

"I want to share the richness of this craft with as many people as possible."
With this strong desire, we decided to have them create Amenoie's bowls.

This one bowl is perfect for both Ozoni and everyday soup.

It truly looks its best when serving Ozoni for New Year's.
Slightly larger than a regular soup bowl, it elegantly holds plenty of ingredients while maintaining a refined impression.

As the name suggests, it is a bowl for Ozoni, but that is not its only purpose.

It's also just right for pork miso soup, kenchin-jiru, rice bowls, and noodles, making it an easy-to-use piece that you'll naturally reach for at your daily dinner table.

The shape is "hasori" (flared rim), which has been cherished since ancient times.
The gently flared rim is clean and elegant,
and the thin rim gives a light feel to the mouth.

The texture of the lacquer determines the "everyday specialness"

In the world of lacquer, there are methods that involve repeated layers of lacquer until the wood grain is completely hidden, and also methods that subtly retain the expression of the wood grain, allowing even the material's breath to be felt.

This time, we repeatedly asked Hinenao to create prototypes, aiming for an elegant finish on the outside where the wood grain would subtly show through.
On the other hand, the inside is coated slightly thicker, so that the wood grain is not visible, to beautifully showcase the food served.
By varying the application of the same color, a profound expression is created within a single piece of tableware.

Black Lacquer and Ancient Vermilion

We offer two colors: deep, shadowy "Black Lacquer"
and "Ancient Vermilion," which evokes a sense of nostalgia and adds warmth to the dining table.

These traditional colors are not influenced by trends, and their subdued matte texture is appealing.
They are easy to incorporate into daily meals, as well as for special occasions like year-end and New Year holidays or celebrations, and you can enjoy the rich aging process as the lacquer develops with use.

These bowls also make wonderful wedding gifts or anniversary presents for loved ones.

As "Lacquerware that accompanies modern life"

Classic lacquerware might sometimes be perceived as something reserved for special occasions.
Many people might have that image.

However, Hinenao Lacquerware's bowls possess a softness that seamlessly blends into daily dining, while simultaneously adding a "sense of everyday specialness" that makes you want to straighten your posture a little.

The undeniable elegance that is conveyed the moment you hold it in your hand.
I believe this comes not only from the allure of lacquer as a material but also from the inherent power of the craft, meticulously handed down over a long time.

Lacquerware is a type of vessel whose luster develops with use, slowly deepening its expression.
We hope you will also enjoy the process of its gradual change as it accompanies your life.
