Carefully selecting skin-friendly towels for everyday use and special occasions

First thing in the morning, I wash my face to wake up, wash my hands every time I come home, and at night I take a relaxing bath.
Towels are something we touch every day, even when just going about our daily lives.
They're daily necessities that we want to prioritize in terms of texture, and of course, also like their appearance.

And so, I took the opportunity of moving to replace all my towels.
I chose Fujitaka Towel, a long-established company with a reputation for its technical prowess, even among Imabari towels.
Founded in 1919, it's the most traditional towel manufacturer in Imabari, with over 100 years of history.

These towels are perfect for everyday use, and also as small gifts or for travel.

Refresh your life with new towels

When I moved, I wanted to make my space more "me," so I decided to get new towels. I've always liked simple, solid-color towels and used them for a long time, but this time I wanted to try something a little different. Since it's something I use every day, I wanted something with a bit of design that could also serve as an accent in my room.
Plus, it would be convenient if I could use them for other purposes besides just towels. That's when I discovered the GRAPHIC LINE series of towels.

These towels aren't just about their design.
The attention to detail in their craftsmanship is truly amazing.

The GRAPHIC LINE series, making the most of Fujitaka Towel's technology, is said to be thoroughly committed to color balance, weaving technique, and three-dimensionality.
In particular, the surface pile is densely packed to all four corners, and the selvages and hems (the edges of the towel) that would normally be visible are nowhere to be found.

This is because they use a special technique called "pile wrapping."
It might sound unfamiliar, but in short, it's a time-consuming, skilled technique where the selvages and hems are wrapped to the back and sewn in to hide them.

Also, the ability to use completely different colors on the front and back is due to a special weaving technique.
I heard that Fujitaka Towel spared no effort, going through countless prototypes to successfully bring out the unique charm of these towels. Truly a display of craftsmanship!

The Artistry of the Craftsman in Every Detail: The Appeal of GRAPHIC LINE

Furthermore, the secret to the longevity of these towels lies in how the threads are twisted.
Normally, towels use either single yarn (one strand) or ply yarn (two strands twisted together), and ply yarn is often used for durable towels.
While ply yarn towels are strong and long-lasting, they tend to have a slightly stiffer feel. However, Fujitaka Towel challenged itself to create a new ply yarn towel to achieve both "durability" and "softness."
The result is this towel, which is durable yet soft and fluffy – truly ideal.
With a combination of design, feel, and ease of use, once you try this towel, you won't want to let it go.

My towel utilization by size

The towels I use come in three sizes: bath towels, mini bath towels, and face towels, and each size has its own advantages.
Let me introduce how I actually use them at home.

Blissful moments wrapped in a bath towel

Bath towels are large and fluffy, so wrapping myself in one after a bath feels truly wonderful. I use them not only for drying my body but also as a lap blanket when sitting on a personal chair. When I sit in my favorite chair, even on a slightly chilly day, putting this on my lap makes me warm and comfortable. Now, it's an indispensable item for my relaxation time at home.

The Convenience of Mini Bath Towels

Mini bath towels are just the right size and an essential item in our lives.
They're especially convenient to use after a bath, and
since I started using this size, I no longer need bath towels.
Many men, in particular, may prefer this size.

If you find bath towels a bit too large, mini bath towels are recommended.
Their compact size also helps reduce laundry.

A companion in life: Uses for face towels

Every household has face towels.
They are indispensable items that play a big role in daily life.

At home, face towels are frequently used everywhere, aren't they? In my house, they are essential items in the kitchen and washroom.

Moreover, they are very useful during the leisure season in summer.
I always take them with me when I go out.

Since there are various sizes available, you can choose according to your lifestyle.

How to Use Towels Properly

Initial Use
It is recommended to wash new towels once with water before use. This ensures a comfortable experience. Fine lint may appear initially but will diminish after a few washes.
*This excludes towels made with zero-twist yarn.
Storing new towels for a long period can cause color fading, so please wash them promptly after purchase.

Washing Method
It is important to wash towels by allowing them to "swim" in plenty of water. In drum-type washing machines, a low water level and impact from tumbling can cause the pile to harden. Using the drying function in conjunction will result in a fluffier finish. When washing, please select the cycle with the maximum water level possible.
Be careful when washing with items that have zippers or Velcro, as they may snag the pile.

Detergent Selection
To prevent discoloration, avoid using fluorescent brighteners or chlorine bleach. Softeners can impair a towel's absorbency, so it is generally recommended to use them sparingly. However, for towels that have hardened due to aging, their use is recommended.

Spin-Drying and Drying
Prolonged spin-drying can crush the pile and cause it to harden. It is important to hang towels immediately after spin-drying. Avoid strong sunlight, as it can cause fading and hardening of the towel; instead, dry it in a well-ventilated shaded area. Leaving towels wet can lead to odors, mold, and bacterial growth, so please be careful.

To Maintain Volume
To maintain a towel's softness and fluffiness, it is recommended to hold both ends and shake it lightly after washing, then shape it before hanging to dry. This will help the fibers stand up, resulting in a fluffy finish.

Storage Method
Store towels in a fluffy, uncompressed state. As they absorb moisture easily, it is important to store them in a well-ventilated area.

If a Pile Loop Gets Pulled
Towels are delicate weaves, so pile loops may get pulled by fingernails or other objects. If a loop is pulled, cut it at the base with scissors. Be careful not to damage the base fabric. If the hem or selvage frays, stitching over it with a sewing machine can prevent further unraveling.
