New chopsticks for a new home
When I moved, I bought a pair of high-quality chopsticks to enjoy my new dining experience.
Moving is a great opportunity to update your belongings, such as furniture and tableware. Introducing new items into a new home can make everyday life feel a little fresh and naturally refresh your mood.
Chopsticks are an essential tool for daily meals.
In Japan, chopsticks have been used for centuries as a tool to savor food. The sensation of gripping food and the warmth of the food transmitted to your hands are some of the pleasures of using chopsticks.
These chopsticks are made from natural wood, offering a gentle feel unique to wood and a pleasant weight in the hand. Because they are used daily, they make you want to cherish the comfortable feel they provide in your hand.
Chopsticks that fit perfectly in your hand, combining beauty and functionality
Available in two sizes. The medium size is recommended for women and children, and the large size for men.
The slender tips are beautiful, and the handles, carefully carved through 11 steps, fit snugly in the hand and are easy to grip.
The slim chopsticks are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly practical.
When you use them, you can firmly grasp food and handle small ingredients smoothly.
With delicate tips and handles that fit comfortably in your hand, they feel like a natural extension of your own hands.
This ease of use is also a charm of these chopsticks.
An encounter with special chopsticks
My encounter with these chopsticks began with a meal at a certain restaurant.
I was so drawn to the chopsticks set on the table that I inquired where they were purchased, and was told about a shop called "Daikokuya."
Daikokuya is a specialty chopstick store located in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. I learned that wooden chopsticks have been made in the Sumida and Katsushika areas since the early Taisho period.
"Edo-Kibashi" is Daikokuya's registered trademark, based on this long history of chopstick making, and further pursuing user-friendliness from the customer's perspective.
Inside the small store, over 200 varieties of chopsticks were neatly displayed.
Among them, a single pair placed quietly on a table immediately caught my eye. Attracted by their beauty, I asked if I could purchase them, but was told that they were specially made for a famous restaurant and not for sale.
While feeling disappointed and about to give up, Mr. Marukawa, the president and craftsman of Daikokuya, specially gave me those chopsticks.
This special pair, which I unexpectedly obtained, I still cherish and use today.
I also had the opportunity to see the production process, so please take a look
here.

A special pair of chopsticks, filled with the history of Daikokuya and the passion of its craftsmen.
I look forward to using these chopsticks every day in this new home where my new life has begun.
Even ordinary dishes taste a little more delicious. Picking up the chopsticks makes the mealtime itself feel a little special.
Sometimes the tips of the chopsticks chip from daily use. In such cases, Daikokuya offers a repair service. It's wonderful to be able to repair and continue using beloved chopsticks.
A pair of chopsticks welcomed with a new life.
I will continue to cherish them and enjoy every mealtime.
