Summer meals, with tableware

Summer Dishes with Our Tableware

Day after day, temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius, and the hot weather makes you sweat just by stepping outside.
The high humidity and heat tend to drain our energy, and there are days when even thinking about what to eat feels like a chore.
That's when noodle dishes naturally come to mind.

Something that requires minimal cooking time, goes down smoothly, and is easy to eat.
Somen, hiyashi chuka, pho, udon... In pursuit of coolness, delightfully smooth meals adorn our tables.
And another essential item for this season is "tableware to serve on."
The kind of tableware used can significantly change both the appearance of the dish and the atmosphere of the dining table.

This time, I'd like to reintroduce the tableware from Keizangama, which beautifully complements these "summer noodle dishes."
Slightly deep bowls, donburi bowls, and small plates.
Let us bring you a refreshing dining experience, highlighting the charm of each shape.

7-inch Medium Bowl

Speaking of summer classics, hiyashi chuka definitely comes to mind.
This dish, with its vibrant array of ingredients like kinshi tamago, cucumber, ham, and tomatoes, is visually stunning and instantly brightens up the dining table.

For such a colorful dish, I've paired it with a "7-inch medium bowl."
At first glance, both might seem intensely colorful and potentially clash, but surprisingly, they harmonize wonderfully.

The expansive white space of the porcelain and the exquisite balance of the understated, refined painting worked like a canvas, enhancing the vividness of the food.

This tableware creates a flexible "visual space."
Here, the food takes center stage, and the tableware beautifully acts as a stage setting.

4.7-inch Stepped Donburi Bowl

It pairs well not only with Japanese cuisine but also with ethnic dishes.

This "4.7-inch Stepped Donburi Bowl," with its translucent white porcelain surface layered with a deep, calm blue, exudes a pure atmosphere, making pho an even more refreshing dish.

The gosu blue isn't uniform; it subtly changes with the brush's intensity, adding expression and depth to the design.

Furthermore, gosu is fired at high temperatures after being coated with transparent glaze, giving it a glass-like luster and allowing the color to faintly show through the glaze.

This "translucency" creates a gentle blurring and shading effect, adding a soft impression to the entire piece of tableware.

Namasu Plate

Since I had the chance, I decided to try making various dishes using Keizangama's tableware.
Speaking of Arita ware, the "Namasu Plate" is also a versatile and very convenient form of tableware.

It's a shallow medium bowl that can be used for simmered dishes, dressed salads, as a small main plate, or even as an individual serving plate.
The slightly curved rim securely holds the food, making it suitable for serving a wide variety of dishes.

This time, I served cucumber and cold shabu-shabu with ginger sauce on a namasu plate, and chawanmushi in a soba choko cup.

My usual appetizers tend to be monochromatic, but this plate makes them look good even without much effort in plating, so it's already become a go-to item for me.

Even hastily prepared meals look elegant, as if served in a restaurant, and the plate pairs perfectly with the food.
It naturally creates an atmosphere that encourages you to enjoy a drink.

A Summer Table Arranged by Tableware

I realized that what all these pieces of tableware have in common is a "beauty that isn't too perfect."
Hand-drawn lines, gentle forms, subtle undulations.
These slight imperfections allow the tableware to softly embrace the food.

When temperatures rise, our appetite tends to decrease, and we often spend less time cooking. But it's precisely at such times that we want to rely on the power of tableware.
Just by serving on them, the table becomes orderly and visually refreshing. It's不思議 (fushigi - mysterious/wonderful) how that alone can lighten one's mood.

Just as we change our clothes with the seasons, we can change our tableware to match seasonal ingredients and our mood.
I reaffirmed that Keizangama's tableware is a reliable presence that gently complements summer meals.

May you enjoy summer comfortably with refreshing tableware.
