Light That Opens and Light That Embraces
Even after the sun went down and the lights were on, I sometimes felt like something was just "bright."
I wanted a little more gentle warmth in the quietness of the night.
That's when I encountered the "time" pendant lamp from 3RD CERAMICS.
The light that shines through the white porcelain shade is exactly as its name suggests.
It gently illuminates the flow of time, creating a quiet rhythm in the space.
The thin clear glaze applied to the smooth white porcelain texture gives it a subtle luster, gently reflecting the light.
It's smooth yet somehow warm, a "not-too-white white."
In our home, we welcomed two "time" lamps: one shaped like a trumpet that opens up light, and another shaped like a teardrop that embraces light.
Teardrop - Gently Enclosing Light
In the living room, we have the teardrop-shaped "time."
I was drawn to its gentle curve, as if capturing the moment a drop of water falls.
Its form, which somehow evokes the rhythm of nature, makes it appear like an art object even when not lit.
Even during busy times, just looking at it makes me take a deep breath.
It feels like it will become a presence that creates small pockets of space in our daily lives.

When I switch it on during a cloudy afternoon, light slowly fills the inside of the lamp, and an orange gradation emerges.
If the trumpet lamp illuminates the entire space, the teardrop lamp embraces the light, revealing its depth.
As it encloses the light, the lines of the potter's wheel become even more distinct, and their shadows create the expression of the light itself. Gazing at the orange of the teardrop, time seems to gently unravel, and I feel my mind becoming calm and well-rounded.
Trumpet - Gently Opening Up Light
In the dining room, we have the trumpet-shaped "time."
Its beautiful curve, gently opening downwards, brings a soft brightness to the dining table.
When I switched it on while it was still bright outside,
the light passed smoothly through the white porcelain, and orange gradually spread across the entire shade.
I was so surprised by how much light it let through that I held my breath.
Soft and warm. These words perfectly describe this light.
It is made from "new born" porcelain clay, which has high translucency, and the light produced through the clay gently envelops the space as if imbued with the warmth of human hands.
The finger marks from the potter's wheel appear in the light, and each stroke seems to quietly record the time spent working with the clay.
As evening passes, the orange deepens, and the light and shadow become more pronounced.
The light falls directly on the dining table, providing a comfortable brightness for both reading and eating.
I accidentally got a little dirt on it during installation, but it returned to its original white simply by wiping it lightly with a cloth.
Apparently, a very thin clear glaze is applied with the wish that it "stays white for a long time."
Because it's used daily, ease of maintenance is a welcome feature.
It's a light that can be used with peace of mind at the dining table.
Light That Changes with Time
White in the morning, orange at night.
"Time" shows various expressions with the passage of time.
From white to orange, and back to white.
The shades of orange seen in between make us feel a "time" different from the hands of a clock.
The trumpet light illuminates daily activities, and the teardrop light embraces their afterglow.
The two "time" lamps create a quiet rhythm in life with their respective lights.
Even in busy days, the expression of light seems slightly different each time you look up.
It's不思議 that each time, my mind feels calm and organized.
I hope a gentle light like "time" shines in all of your daily lives.
