Daisuke Tomimoto x Yamase Seito MortarThis carefully crafted mortar combines reliable functionality as a tool with the beauty of a vessel.
It not only supports your cooking but also beautifully enhances the aesthetic of your dining table.
It is also a new kind of tool for those who want to use authentic materials and value the act of putting effort into their work.
This mortar is a collaboration between ceramic artist Daisuke Tomimoto and Yamase Seito, a kiln specializing in mortars.
It is a special item that combines both functionality and aesthetic beauty.

Available in two colors: black and blue-gray.
Black has an attractive rough, matte texture, adding a calm presence to the dining table.
Blue-gray, on the other hand, is characterized by its glossy appearance that softly reflects light.
It is a color that combines dignified elegance with gentleness.
Both colors quietly complement the food while exuding a distinct personality.
The rough ceramic surface and the carefully carved comb-like ridges (kushime) on the inside firmly hold various ingredients such as sesame seeds, aromatic vegetables, and soft root vegetables, grinding them smoothly.
And what's most delightful is that you can use it as a serving dish just as it is after grinding.
Simply arrange the contents like a small bowl to create a beautifully finished single dish.
When you want to subtly enhance your daily dining experience,
this mortar becomes a reliable companion, transforming effort into richness.

・Only use wooden pestles. Using anything other than a wooden pestle may cause the ridges (kushime) to break.
・After use, wash with water and dry completely before storing.
・If dirt accumulates in the ridges, wash with a scrubbing brush. Do not use metal scrubbers, abrasive sponges, or cleansers, as they may damage the vessel.
・For black mortars, when grinding meat or fish, it is recommended to soak the mortar in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will help prevent food odors from permeating the mortar.

- Do not use pestles other than wooden ones. Using non-wooden pestles may cause the ridges to crack.
- After use, rinse with water and store only after completely drying.
- If dirt gets stuck in the ridges, wash with a scrubbing brush. At that time, do not use metal scrubbing brushes, abrasive sponges, or cleansers that may damage the bowl.
- For black suribachi, when grinding meat or fish, we recommend soaking the suribachi in water for about 10 minutes before use. This will make it harder for food odors to seep in.
