Size: approx. H24cm x W4-5cm
Material: Japanese prickly ash wood
• As branches and trunks are used as-is, each product will have a unique shape and bark texture (knots, bumps, etc.).
• Because they contain the heartwood and are susceptible to drying, cracks are often visible on the end grain even before use.
• Please understand that these are characteristics and qualities unique to Japanese pepper wood pestles before making your purchase.
・As natural wood is used, mold is likely to grow in damp places, so it must be thoroughly dried.
・Soaking it in hot water immediately after use will make it easier to remove dirt.
・Washing without detergent will preserve the natural woody scent, but if detergent is used, rinse and dry thoroughly.

Yamaichi has been continuously creating products using high-quality raw timber from Shinshu Kiso, based on the concept of "bringing the fragrance and warmth of wood into everyday life."
Sansho wood has been used as a pestle since ancient times due to its friction resistance, hardness, and antibacterial properties.
Each pestle is handmade in Wakayama Prefecture, a sansho producing region, so the bark and shape of each piece of wood are unique,
each one displaying its own individual character.
The natural shape of the wood feels comfortable in the hand, is non-slip, and offers excellent usability.
I use different sizes depending on the purpose. I usually grind sesame seeds or basil,
and every time I do it by hand, I'm surprised by the intense aroma.
