Notes

Each piece is handcrafted, cherishing the unique texture of earthenware. No two pieces are exactly alike, as the colors, patterns, and glaze expressions are all created through carbonization firing. Please enjoy the varying appearances of each item as a unique characteristic of that particular vessel.
*Kannyu (fine crackle patterns on the surface) are natural features that occur due to the characteristics of the firing and glaze. They are not defects, so please use the product with confidence.

Handling Precautions

・Always wash with water or lukewarm water before first use.
・Sealing the surface will make it less likely for food colors to stain.
・After use, promptly remove any dirt and store after drying thoroughly.
・When stacking, gently place a piece of tissue paper between items to prevent scratches.
・Avoid using abrasive cleaners, cleansers, metal scrubbers, etc., or scrubbing vigorously, as this may scratch the surface. Please wash with a soft sponge.

Though made of clay, it somehow resembles stone.

That was the sensation I felt when I first saw Sota Obara's work.

A faint blue seeping through light gray.
Subtle traces left by charcoal.
And fine, spreading crackles.

Comparing each piece carefully, they each wear a different expression, conveying a quiet depth.

These unique expressions are born from Obara-san's craftsmanship, where he engages with clay and fire, meticulously performing each step.

Expressions unknown until the kiln is opened

One of the major elements that characterizes Obara-san's work is the process called "carbonization firing."

After bisque firing and main firing, the vessels are placed in a "sash" with rice husks for a third firing.

"This is something I truly don't know until I open the kiln."

Despite repeated trial and error with clay, glazes, and firing methods, the final expression is left to nature.

A landscape born beyond what was imagined.
The charm of Obara-san's work lies in these unique expressions, where no two pieces are alike.
