Echizen lacquerware, said to have originated 1,500 years ago in the Kawada district of Sabae City.
This is a round tray from Tsunao Shikki, a company founded in 1962, utilizing the lacquerware production techniques cultivated in this region.

It employs a technique called "nunokise," where cloth is applied to the wood base and then lacquered over.
Nunokise prevents cracking and deformation of the wood base, increasing its durability.
Additionally, the faintly appearing textile fibers beneath the layers of lacquer create a unique texture and depth.

The "Shaku 0" (approximately 30cm) is a perfectly sized tray that can hold a rice bowl, a soup bowl, and side dishes.
You can combine small bowls and dishes to enjoy it like a special single plate.

Ease of care is also a key feature.
For light dirt, simply wiping with a damp cloth or a cloth moistened with lukewarm water is sufficient, and finishing with a dry cloth will help maintain its condition better.
Due to the nature of lacquerware, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and high humidity, and to store it in a well-ventilated place.

Inheriting Tradition and Embracing New Manufacturing

Tsunao Shikki reportedly handles all processes in-house, except for the base material preparation.

The workshop employs first-class technicians and traditional craftspeople, who each take on specialized roles, working together with meticulous communication.
This process is said to enhance the completeness of the products and stabilize their quality.

【Care Instructions】
・For light dirt, a quick wipe with a water-dampened cloth or a cloth moistened with lukewarm water is sufficient. Finishing with a light wipe of a dry cloth will help maintain it in better condition.
・If wet, completely remove moisture and wipe with a dry cloth (cotton or a cloth specifically for lacquerware).
・To prevent deformation, deterioration, or mold, do not store for long periods in direct sunlight or highly humid areas. Storage in a well-ventilated place is recommended.
