woodpecker
Woodpecker is a woodworking brand founded by Kenji Fukui, who was born into a family of traditional wood turners in Gifu Prefecture.
He established his brand in 2008 with the concept of "living with wood." The brand's origin lies in a single cutting board Kenji Fukui made for his wife. After studying woodworking techniques and training at a furniture manufacturer, Fukui created a ginkgo wood cutting board at his wife's request. His wife's delight at its ease of use and beauty inspired Fukui to pursue "his own unique style of craftsmanship," leading to the establishment of woodpecker.
Fukui is thoroughly familiar with the weight, hardness, and density of various types of wood, and he creates tools that are perfectly suited for everyday living. He provides long-lasting tools that are carefully maintained, allowing you to enjoy the feel and aroma of natural materials with all your senses. Furthermore, he creates tools that make daily tasks more enjoyable. He is a craftsman who conveys the comfort of living with wood through these tools.
